Chrysler News

Considering the rate at which the Chinese market gobbles up Buick models, you'd think it would be a prime market for Chrysler. Yet the House of the 300 wasn't present in China at all in recent years, as the brand has just announced at the Beijing Motor Show its return to the Chinese market.
In the coming months, it will begin selling both the 300C and the Grand Voyager, and to mark the occasion it has presented a special design concept of its top-of-the-line sedan. Much like sister-brand Jeep adopted the dragon symbol for its special-edition Wrangler, the Chrysler brand went with the Ruyi – a scepter-like object symbolizing prosperity and good fortune – for its 300 show car.
The design concept is distinguished by unique ten-spoke 22-inch wheels, dark chrome trim to complement the black paint and tone-on-tone "speed stripe," aero kit, custom grille, tinted glass and special badging. Meanwhile the interior is done up in a variety of metal finishes, with French-stitched beige suede and leather. The first thing everyone notices about the Chrysler 300 is the supersonic luxurious taste and feel. Chrysler 300 “Street Machine”

Chrysler is using the 2012 Chicago Auto Show,  to commemorate the 75th anniversary of its Mopar performance parts division by displaying several Mopar-customized vehicles. Their display is using the modified cars to demonstrate how they can be modified — either directly from the factory or at the dealership — with aftermarket parts to add style and performance.
Among the customized vehicles on display is a special-edition Chrysler 300 sporting specialized modifications that are added at the factory and can be ordered directly from dealers.
“Customization is king,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand (pictured above). “These head-turning ‘Moparized’ vehicles show how we can go to the next level of personalization.”
The all-black limited-edition Chrysler 300 “Street Machine” features Mopar-blue pinstripes and black 20-inch forged aluminum wheels wearing high-performance all-season tires outside. An all black interior features a thick-rimmed steering wheel with die-cast paddle shifters (for Auto Stick), a unique Mopar shifter handle wrapped in black leather and stitched with matching Mopar Blue thread, and perforated Katzkin leather seats, also with Mopar blue stitching.
Luxurious, stylish, shiny, custom wheels are not simple accessories. As alchemists could transform one form of matter into another, so the proper rims can modify the vehicle's look. Chrysler Cargo Liners.

Chrysler's relatively small lineup just got considerably better with the latest 300 sedan thanks to vast improvements across the board, making the brand's halo vehicle a competitive luxury sedan.
The all-new Chrysler 300 arrives with a sticker price of just $27,995, including $825 in destination, despite the fact that the base 300 now comes with a significantly more powerful 292 horsepower 3.6-liter V6, improved cloth seats and 17-inch wheels.
Buyers wanting a little more luxury can step up the the Limited trim level, which starts at $31,995. The Limited adds leather, heated seats, Uconnect voice command and 18-inch wheels.
While we wait for the fire-breathing SRT8 model, the 300C will stand as the line's top offering, commanding a price of $38,995. The 300C adds a 5.7-liter V8, heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, power folding mirrors and LED interior lighting. An all-wheel drive version of the 300C is also available for $41,145. The 5.7-liter-equipped 300 is expected to hit 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. CARiD presents an expansive selection of top-quality Cargo Liners perfect for upping the level of protection inside your vehicle. 2012 Chrysler 300C SRT8.

Looking for evidence that Chrysler is hard at work on a hot-rod version of the flagship 300C? Here’s the smoking gun.
Spy shooters have captured the 300C SRT8 with no camouflage, and details are overwhelming that this is the halo four-door for Chrysler. The test car even has SRT8 badges on the steering wheel and the tachometer.
There also are wheels that look like six-spoke SRT rollers, Brembo brakes and chrome dual exhaust.
Look for the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 in the Charger SRT8 to be used in the 300 sibling. The Dodge is rated at 465 hp and 465 lb-ft, so look for similar output in the Chrysler. Other carryover features likely will include the elaborate 8.4-inch touch screen in the middle and paddle shifters. Also note the heavily bolstered seats and the leather-wrapped steering wheel. A five-speed automatic will complete the powertrain.
The outside is marked by an angrier front fascia, a car grille and athletic rocker panels. The elegant taillight and headlight styles from the regular car are also present.
Chrysler hasn’t announced its New York auto show plans, but we’d be surprised if this hot rod from the Pentastar doesn’t have a spotlight role. And when Dodge boss Ralph Gilles introduced the Charger SRT8 in Chicago, he punctuated the event by planting a kiss on the front fender.

Chrysler Financial Gets $1.5B Loan from Bailout.

WASHINGTON – The Treasury Department said Friday it will provide a $1.5 billion loan to Chrysler LLC's financing arm to be used for new vehicle loans in hopes of boosting sales and ultimately returning the automaker to profitability.

The Treasury said the new aid will be in addition to the $17.4 billion in loans earmarked for both Chrysler and General Motors Corp. last month in an effort to buy time for the two companies to reorganize.

"This funding will better position us to withstand the current economic challenges until funding becomes available through more traditional commercial sources," Thomas F. Gilman, Chrysler Financial's vice chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

The first $100 million under the loan is expected to be available next week.

The terms require Chrysler to pay interest at a rate 1 percentage point higher than the one-month the London Interbank Offered Rate for the first year, increasing to 1.5 points above LIBOR for the remainder of the five-year term. At Friday's LIBOR, that's an initial rate of about 1.36 percent.

A special purpose entity created by Chrysler Financial will also issue warrants to Treasury in the form of additional notes in an amount equal to 5 percent of the total size of the loan.

Battered Chrysler saw its sales plunge 53 percent last month, far worse than for GM or Ford Motor Co., and analysts have said it probably won't survive the year as an independent company — despite the $4 billion loan it received from the government. Chrysler had been counting on an additional $3 billion in aid for Chrysler Financial.

The government settled on $1.5 billion after consulting with Chrysler Financial in recent weeks and getting an assessment of the company's financial situation, said a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly about the transaction.
Unlike GM and Ford Motor Co., Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Chrysler is owned by a private equity firm, Cerberus Capital Management LP, and is not required to publicly disclose details of its finances as public corporations are.
GM's financing arm, GMAC LLC, received $5 billion from the Treasury Department in late December. In addition, the Treasury said it would lend up to $1 billion to GM so that the automaker would be able to buy more equity from GMAC.

Chrysler 300 Accessories.

The Chrysler 300 has enjoyed steady sales number since its inception, primarily because of its otherwise modest price tag. Although branded as a luxury vehicle, the 300 is consistently priced significantly lower than most other entrants in this segment due to its domestic manufacturing. This gives the model a clear advantage over many upscale imports when it comes to marketing, as Chrysler has managed to accentuate the luxurious and comforting features of the 300 in its ads while simultaneously heralding its affordability. And the Chrysler 300 is not without its awards. It was the 2005 Motor Trend Car of the Year and has been named numerous times one of Car & Driver’s Ten Best List. Even with all the accolades, this car is not stuck in the past. With Chrysler planning to refocus attention to the model in the coming year along with its already high demand for aftermarket parts, drivers of the 300 have a lot to look forward to.
